Book Suggestions for a 3rd Grader

I have a 3rd grade kid who's techers are saying needs to be reading more challenging stuff. They naturally suggested Harry Potter.. which from a purly academic standpoint would be exactly the challenge they're looking for.

At this point though I'd like to offer alternatives. I thought of LOTR and The Narnia books...

What other books (with a series) would you suggest? They don't nessecarily have to be Christian.

Warriors (the original series) and its variant sequels are good reads. I have read the first series and I likened them to a LOTR sage but with cats instead of people, elves, etc.

My third grader (son) likes The Three Investigators (which is not all that challenging but a fun read, great personality and character interaction aside).; ▶ Reply to This
